Charly's origin story as a shoe company dates back to 1949-50 in Mexico, but eight years ago in 2014, the athletic shoe and apparel brand claimed a top spot on the soccer pitch. With the launch of Charly Fútbol, it entered the high-stakes game of outfitting Mexican soccer clubs in Liga MX, firmly grounding its clout to compete with the largest athletic shoe brands.
In 2015, Charly signed stars like Mauro Boselli and Rubens Sambueza, and produced commercials with ESPN personalities such as Vanessa Huppenkothen. But it was the brand's foray into entertainment — a Netflix hit sitcom, Club de Cuervos, about a fictional Liga MX team — that catapulted the Charly soccer jersey to the top-selling spot in Mexico. And by 2018, the family-owned company was gearing five Liga MX teams. Today, international athlete André Pierre Gignac and league champion Luis “Chapito” Montes sport the Charly brand on and off the field.
